Bormio

The worldcup speed guys back from Christmas. And Bormio is always a tough place to spend the holidays. Steep, fast, dark and bumpy. Bormio for sure living up to its reputation this year. Fun fact: in 2012 we have skied around 35km of downhill. Klaus Kröll has been 0.2 sec faster than me and is leading with around 5 meters. That’s a close race after 35000 meter.

Had a great day relaxing in Innsbruck and driving to Bormio. Normally that would be a boring birthday, but because of that awesome surprise party on the 22nd it is all good. My friend Christoph brought me this cake. Thanks! Now its off to bed and prepare for the brutal Bormio Downhill.

Merry Christmas

SURPRISE!!!

I had a great day yesterday! Thanks to some of the best people in the world.

Being born on the 26th of the December is not very convenient if you´re a worldcup ski racer and you like celebrating your birthday with good friends. I usually spend my birthday alone in a car driving to Bormio. Kinda sad, but missing out on a worldcup race would be worse. So I´m used to this being the way itis. And I could always have birthday parties when I´m done racing. But this year I´m turning 30 on the 26th. (I know, its kinda old and kinda scary!!) And it just seems very wrong to spend that day alone in a car.  I wanted to do something, but figured I would make up for it in the spring. Arranging a party at Christmas can be tough. Everyone´s busy with chrsitmas stuff, travelling etc. So when my brother said there was this new great restaurant right in the neighborhood, I didt think anything of it. Him, Julia and I walked over to grab something to eat, I thought… Door opening and SURPRISE!!!!  Lots of my best friends and family. Couldn’t have been better. Birthday party. A few days early, but still awesome. And the best thing about it is that you get to see all the people you wanna see, but there is just noe way you can when you only have three days in Norway. So thanks again to everybody that came. I had a great time!! And a special thanks to my brother Simen for putting together the whole thing, and to Julia for the great initiative! You´re great!!

Trentino

Haven´t planned this winter´s ski trip yet? Maybe you should check out Trentino!!

Xmas Innsbruck

Nothing will get you in the holiday spirit like the Christkindmarkt in Innsbruck. You should check it out! And try some of the glühwein…

Alpine Rockfest

It´s coming up. Tha Alpin Rockfest. Prizemoney 70.000 Euro. Winner takes it all. Will the rest of us be able to take down Ted Ligety or Marcel Hitscher?

Exciting new partnership

This summer I met a group of people from the consulting group COWI. After spending some time with them I was really triggered by their high competence within engineering and inviromental science. COWI is right now taking on challenges like expanding the Oslo airport and designing the worlds longest underwater tunnel. I´m always excited to spend time with people and companies that welcome the biggest challenges, pushing the limits for what is possible and look for new solutions. I have just started a partnership with COWI. Maybe I can even learn something from them in the future.

Gran Risa Alta Badia

Unless you are Ted Doctor Giant Slalom Ligety, then a Giant Slalom race in Alta Badia is a lot of work. Its hard to tell on TV, but its bullet proof ice, steep and dark. It´s something very different from trying to be smooth and aerodynamic in the Val Gardena speed races. So I had to get my gaceface on today! Got a 9th place in the end. Not exactly where I want to be, but on a day like today I´ll take it!
