Good stuff

It’s a sunny beautiful day in Kvitfjell today. Let’s hope it stays like this. I went out to do some freeskiing just to see how my body felt after the crash in Crans Montana. And it is all good. A stiff and sore neck, but no problem ripping some turns!

Oooops

I think this was when i realized I wasn’t gonna win the race

Emil aka Kjetil Jansrud

Check out the giant slalom top 7. The whole crew and closest to the camera you see my teammate Emil. His second worldcup race and already at his first bib draw. Kjetil has a sore back so I brought Emil for some company. U start with #2 and Emil aka Kjetil has #7. In total we’re 6 Norwegians at the start.

Getting race ready in Crans Montana. Red Bulls used as cones as we do soccer drills. Here’s Iver getting on his fast feet for tomorrows Super-G race

City race and Champions League

I got knocked out against Misillier. They’re hard to take down those French slalom guys. One of them (Pintherault) went on to win the whole thing. That’s the first of many world cup wins that we will se from him in his career. The best part of the day is that Julia skied awesome and won the whole thing on the women’s side. Cool!!! After the race a walked over to the olympic stadium and watched the Champions League game against Real Madrid. Big stadium. Someone said 80.000 spectators. The picture is tacked from outside the stadium, in the background you can see the lights on the ski hill they built up for the race.

Moscow Tourists

Skiers being a bunch of tourists downtown Moscow today. Here’s Felix Neureuther getting the perfect angle at the shot of the Red Square.

Leaving Bansko

I guess we were in a hurry to go to the airport. Police car going first in the middle of the road and bus following. Any drivers unlucky to be on the roads around Sofia to day better watch out. This is seems a little dramatic. Not sure if catching this flight is worth killing other drivers for.

Bansko

Happy with the 4th plage here in Bansko. Noe im packing up my bags and leaving for Moscow and the city event there on Tuesday. Bansko is liking being at a summer resort, except for in the mountains. You know those people trying to convince you to go into their bar or restaurant. They’re everywhere here. And I’m pretty sure they work the beach in the summer and here in the winter. It’s like they know right away what country you’re from, and then they start talking to you in that language. Impressive, but annoying in the long run. But the snow and the mountains are good, and thats what counts. Also amazed bye how many people are skiers around here and how interested they are in skiing.

Bulgaria

Another place on the worldcup tour that is new to me. I didn’t go last year cause I had knee pain after a long jump at the world champs downhill. As a kid I went to Bulgaria on summer vacation. Never thought about it as a winter destination. But there was more snow when the airplane landed in Sofia than what we had taking off in Austria. Bansko is a three hour drive from Sofia. Lots of people skiing here and the people seem the be very interested in worldcup ski racing. I have bib nr 7 in today’s gs race. The race hill is in a great condition, so should be a good race.

Outside magazine
