Check out my view from the one of the peaks in Lyngen. It’s a narrow spine with a good line down the front face. The back is a different story though. Cliffs that drop off almost 500 vertical meter. Just standing there is almost more thrilling than the skiing part.
It’s been a magical week in Lyngsalpene(The Lyngen alps) and the fjords around. Now we’re on the old fishing boat bound for Tromsø. It was a fun crew and the Canadian Eric Hjorleifson was a great new addition. One of the worlds best freeskieres, a hardcore mountain man and great company in the mountains. Hard not to get excited with this kind nature. I have a feeling we will see him back in Norway next winter as well.
Uphill is a lot of work. From the ocean and up to almost 1400m altitude. Takes a few hours, but getting down is a matter of minutes. But to be honest I enjoy the climbing just as much as the decent.
Driving out from Tromø this morning. Things looking promissing so far. New adventure with Field Productions. Stay tuned!
The difference in temperatur between sunny Hawaii and winter Norway seemed to be more then I could handle. So I got a cold. And after listening to some good advice I decided make onion soup. It turned out pretty good, and I do feel better. Not sure if it was the soup it self or the fact that I was crying my eyes out chopping all those onions that helped the most.
Beautiful sunshine. Pretty much the only thing that the beach in Hawaii and the mountains here in Norway have in common. The feeling of walking barefoot on the beach and jamming your feet into tight skiboots couldn’t be more different. And specially after walking around barefoot it’s painful. My feet get a lot bigger when I’m in the heat and I don’t wear skiboots for some time. Then they probably are the size they always should be. But that’s how race boots work. They’re super tight and fast, and right now very painful.
6 hours down, 16 to go.. I’ve made it to LA before sunrise, and now it’s off to New York. Should have had time to stay a few days in each of these city’s, maybe next time. Gotta get back to the office and back on snow. I have a week of training and testing of next years equipment ahead of me. Even though it’s been a long winter I’m excited to go skiing again. A week of sunshine and island life did the trick.
SUP surfing is a lot of fun. This week I’ve been busy doing all the water sports that Hawaii has to offer, but I think my favorite must be SUP. It’s a mix of being able to catch a lot of waves, and the fact that just being on the board is a constant challenge. A great workout and tons of fun. And speaking about workouts, I’ve also been able to get some good biking done. Being in the heat it’s like youre kickstarting the summer training. Good for the body and good for the mind.
Enough said I guess. HAWAII!!
Its been a fun day of skiing in Squaw today. Lots of good people and legendary locals like Jonny Mosely.
