Feeling the Olympic spirit as we’re taking on extreme athletic challenges at the mini golf course in Saas Fee
We arrived in Saas Fee yesterday. It was crazy warm here with over 30c. Sadly there is some bad weather moving in this morning, but let’s just hope it clears away quick! The first few days not looking to good. Still good to be back on ski camp and traveling with the boys.
It is snowing in New Zealand. But from what ive heard it’s only in mt hutt. The south is still bad. And the skiing in mt hutt is also not that good. Traveling around the planet for 16 gates of GS seems s little extreme. And according to the HEAD team, there are so many rocks that they destroy skis everyday. So for now we are pulling the plug on NZ and leaving for Saas Fee on Friday. Weather forecast not looking great there either. But we are a lot closer to home I things go bad. And we sure can’t ski if we stay in summer vacation mode. So it’s worth checking out.
After some real nice and sunny days it’s gotten real windy. No more glassy SUPing and retro light wind sailing. Simen and I both tired after getting worked by mother nature, but also having lots of fun and getting some good speed. Simen’s looking pretty hard core in the wetsuit. Two zippers. One for the wetsuit and one for his skin.
A skier’s summer is short. You ski as long as you can find good snow, usually late May. Then u travel to New Zealand to find snow at the end of July. Around two months of summer and lots if winter. So since the travels to New Zealand are delayed(or possibly cancelled) that gives me a few more days of summer. Better take full advantage!
Sadly there is very little snow in New Zealand. Check out the web-cam photo. I was excited to get down there and start skiing. Supposed to leave on Sunday and stay for about a month. But those plans are changing and hopefully we don’t need to cancel the whole trip. Right now we´re waiting to see what happens the next few days. But forecast is fairly warm, so I have a bad feeling about this years trip down under. Too bad, cause its a great place. But lets keep our fingers crossed for the arrival of “king winter”. Its not over yet.
Great day at the “office” today. First I improved my personal best at the VO2 mask test(aerobic O2 test) to 6.28 liters. Then I took a bet that I would run the 400m in less then 60 sec. I did it in 56.2, crushed the bet and won 1000 NOK. Today I was on fire! #winning
Kira enjoying some icecream on the boat off the coast of Sweden. It hasn’t been many sunny days so far this summer, so we’re taking full advantage of the ones we get.
I had dinner with a soccer player and biathlon skier last night. I ordered a burger and a beer. Felt real healthy when they ordered after me. Water and fish soup.
Love it when my upgrades come through. No problemo being on a long flight when the food is like a fine restaurant, the seat turns into a bed and the entertainment is good. It’s actually just about any guys dream. You can stay in bed and don’t move a finger while you’re getting food, drinks and watching a movie.
